HTP1 Rental FAQs

How does the HTP1 device work?
The machine pumps water through a cuff at a controlled temperature to help reduce pain, swelling and bruising. As the temperature is regulated (unlike ice based treatments) it can be used for as long as desired, with many people post-operatively using almost continuously in their first few days at home.

How long should I rent the HTP1 device for?
Recovery times differ from patient to patient and it can be hard to know how long to book your machine for. From our experience the average rentals are: Facial Rental – 1 – 2 Weeks, Orthopaedic Rental – 2 – 4 Weeks. You can always extend the rental should you wish to. The shortest rental period is 1 week.

What temperature should I use the HTP1 device at?
The recommended temperature range for optimum reduction of swelling and bruising is: Facial – 16°C – 19°C, Knee, Foot, Hip, Shoulder: 15°C – 18°C

How does the delivery and collection work?
All our deliveries are booked with DPD on a morning delivery. Someone will need to be in to receive the delivery on the selected delivery day. If there is nobody at the delivery address the machine is likely to be taken to a local shop where it will be available for collection the following day. Due to the value of the machine we do not recommend asking the courier to ‘leave in a safe space.’
We will contact you by email a few days before your rental finishes to confirm whether you would like us to collect the device or extend the rental. We will then book the collection from your chosen address with DPD. We can usually choose either a morning or afternoon slot for the collection.

How soon can the equipment be delivered?
We recommend booking your rental at least one week in advance but we can deliver the equipment for the next working day as long as we receive the booking before midday. The earliest delivery time for orders made after midday would be 2 working days. Any orders made between midday Friday and midday Monday would have Tuesday as the earliest delivery day.

What day should I book delivery?
We normally recommend having your machine delivered the day after your procedure if possible. This is to give you the longest possible amount of time with the equipment whilst also making sure you have it for the day that you are discharged from hospital. We can deliver the machine before your procedure but the rental will start from the delivery date.

Delivery charges
Our standard delivery & collection charge is for mainland UK (excluding Scottish Highlands & other remote locations). Please find a list of the delivery & collection charges below:

Weekday mainland UK (excl Scottish Highlands) – £35

Saturday mainland UK (excl Scottish Highlands) – £55

In the event that the wrong delivery charge is selected we will get in touch with you to pay the difference before the device is dispatched.

What if my procedure is cancelled?
Your rental can be moved, postponed or cancelled free of charge up to midday the working day before it is due to be delivered. The machine will be in transit between midday the working day before it is delivered and the delivery day so any changes made after this time will incur half the delivery & collection fee (£17.50). If the machine has been delivered and you need to cancel the rental as long as we are told within 24 hours of delivery we can arrange to collect the machine and refund you for everything except for the £35 delivery and collection fee.

Do I need to purchase a cuff as well or can I just rent a machine?
If you have been told that you will be using a Hilotherm device in hospital they will provide you with a cuff. These cuffs are single patient use and you will be able to take it home with you as the hospital will not be able to reuse it. This will save you having to purchase a cuff from us.
If the hospital you are attending is not planning on using a Hilotherm device you will have to purchase a cuff separately.
We recommend that if you are in any doubt then you should buy a cuff. If you return the cuff to us unopened we will refund you for it.
We will ask you to provide us with the hospital and type of procedure you are having at checkout as this helps us to identify any potential issues.

What cuff should I purchase?
We recommend the following cuffs for procedures:
Maxillofacial (jaw) surgery – Lower face mask with link
Knee surgery – Knee cuff
Face or neck lift – Lower face mask without link
Blepharoplasty – Open eye cuff
Rhinoplasty – Nose cuff
Breast surgery – Hilobreast cuff
Shoulder surgery – Trapezoidal cuff
Hip surgery – Trapezoidal cuff
Foot surgery – Foot cuff

Would 100% recommend. I recently underwent major surgery and my husband hired a machine for my recovery. The machine controlled the swelling and pain and worked wonders through my sleepless nights. Ice packs just didn’t cut it for me as I could only get around 20 mins of use at a time with ice packs.
Thank you for assisting in my speedy recovery.

My daughter used for a week after upper and lower jaw surgery. It meant that she could snooze during the day and at night with a ‘cool face’. Service was exceptional. Really useful advice given.

I must say that the Hilotherapy machine is worth every penny. I came out with no bruising and very little swelling after having double jaw surgery. It really helped in keeping my face cool and virtually pain-free. I would recommend this equipment to anyone and, in fact, have already recommended it to friends about to go for ankle and knee surgery. I would also say that for anyone suffering from migraines this is a fantastic piece of machinery that really helps with the pain.

We found the whole process of ordering the Hilotherapy device very straightforward and quick, and Martha certainly found that the unit helped with the post-operative swelling and discomfort. We would definitely recommend it to other people going through the same operation.
